Richard Buckner - Town
![]() "There are three kinds of American folk artist: those who sit, contented, on a back porch contemplating America’s landscape and ways; those for whom its landscape and ways are something to stand against or move boldly through; and those whose America is a shadowy, impressionistic place that moves inside of them. This [latter] is the area that the sombre-voiced Richard Buckner has been exploring since 1984." -- Sylvie Simmons The Guardian, 2004 Richard Buckner is one of the most important folk rockers in America today. Later this summer, Merge Records will be releasing his eitgth album, Meadow. On this disc, Richard Buckner is backed by a veritable indie rock all star band with Doug Gillard (Guided by Voices and Cobra Verde), Kevin March (GBV, Those Bastard Souls and The Dambuilders), J.D Foster (produced two previous albums by Buckner), and Steven Goulding (Mekons, Gram Parker, Waco Brothers). It was recorded by JD Foster in Buckner's apartment, JD's hallway, and an old abandoned pencil factory. "Town" is the lead single off of Meadow. It's a mid tempo strummer that prominently features the guitar work of Gillard and that rough distinctive voice of Buckner. Richard Buckner - Town.mp3 Richard Buckner |

post a commentThanks for sharing this single... I'm psyched for the new record. Buckner has been playing a few of the new songs (including this one) for the last year or so.
