Easy Rockin Sunday With Pablo, Nouvelle Vague, Balun, Mattison, and Eric Bachmann
![]() New York based band, Pablo, have recently dropped their full length debut, Half The Time. The tortured ballads and the gravelly voice of singer Paul Schalda will often times recall the more intimate and painful moments of The Replacements. Pablo - Wall Street.mp3 Nouvelle vague is translated to new wave in English. This french duo takes new wave standards, like Echo and The Bunnymen's "Killing Moon" and unleashes them upon vocalists who have never heard the originals. The results are unique, jazzy interpretations of songs you know by heart. Nouvelle Vague - Killing Moon.mp3 From San Juan, Puerto Rico, comes the electro-accoustic pop stylings of Balun. Their debut cd, Something Comes Our Way, has recently been released on Brilliante Records. I highly recommend you check this out. Balun - Snol.mp3 Mattison are a three piece jazz pop ensemble from NYC (via wonderful Kent, OH) featuring the inescapable voice of Kate Mattison. If you like what you hear, they'll be at the Beachland Tavern this Thursday night opening up for Beaten Awake. Mattison - Wayside.mp3 Eric Bachmann will be releasing the album "To The Races" on August 22nd on Saddle Creek. Eric has had a long career and fruitful career living just under the radar. Perhaps, he is most famous for fronting the early 90's slacker rock band Archers of Loaf. "To The Races" finds Eric in the quiet singer/songwriter mode. "Lonesome Warrior" is a wonderful and sparse ballad that sounds great on an easy rockin Sunday.
