Tim Armstrong and A Poet's Life
![]() Tim Armstrong, the punk rock vet from Rancid and The Transplants is in the process of releasing his first solo album, A Poet's Life. I say he's in the process of releasing this album since one by one, each track is going to be made available as a free download as a gift to his long-time, loyal fans. Then, in February, Epitaph will put out a proper cd. The first song released from A Poet's Life was the old style reggae track, "Hold On," recorded with the help of The Aggrolites. The second track, "Wake Up," has a little more dub runnin in it, and shares the same easy rockin vibe as "Hold On." Man, there's just something about that rough and ragged voice of Tim Armstrong that sounds so right backed by a reggae beat. post a commenttim armstrong is one of my favourite singers of all time. his voice is amazing, and ive followed every band that he's done as much as possible. im so happy that he's releasing a solo album, and rancid are working on a new album too!! amazing. TIM ARMSTRONG FOR PRESIDENT!!
Just saw that you were on the Poet's Life tip way back last year...when this post was added in Rocktober. I just got the whole EP/LP whatver ya call as a download from Emusic after trying to grab any i could find for free... I suppose the futility set in, and besides my girlfriend needed the tracks asap.
So anyhow I heartily second that salute to Tim "Lint" Armstrong...always good stuff coming from that side of the whirled eh?
He's a guy i first met circa spring of 1988 at one of my shows at the now defunct Berkeley Square, jeez almost 20 years ago now when he was in Op IV. I wish i had those pix of him passed out while eating a hot dog on a way to a gig in that 69 Newport.
Sadly one of the buslines he just immortalized on his new CD called the 43 is ending it's run this week...
At one time, we even bandied about the idea of doing music together, but who needs two frontmen eh?
